Well, my little first week of work is over now! I'm enjoying the job so far. I'm in an office, so I get to look nice 4/5 days (Friday is casual). I even have my own desk with a computer! So far I've mostly been doing inventory in the IT department storage area and that's taken me the past three days. I organized one cabinet and then my supervisor found another cabinet and then another one. The last cabinet was the worst. It had tons of cables and wires just thrown in there. I got to untangle all of those, that was fun. Today I spent most of my time working on Excel. One of the guys in the office had a bunch of data for me to enter into a spreadsheet, lots of numbers. Anyway, I'm not exactly sure what I'll be doing next week. The general manager was on vacation this week and he apparently has some projects for me to do. But, it's a laid back place and I'm trying to get used to that. I'm used to regimented routines, but I love the fact that I can take my lunch break or other breaks whenever I want. Or, if I don't want to take a break, I don't really have to. And, on my breaks, I can get on the computer and play around. Anyway, that's all for now!

Yay!! I finally found a job! I'll be working at Boltaron here in town. Mostly I'm going to be filing/organizing things and occasionally doing a little bit of IT assistance when needed. I'm excited that I get to work in an office! I actually get to look nice to go to work for once. I'm sure I'll get tired of it eventually, but right now it sounds fun. Anyway, I'm happy. Now I just have to go take a drug test/physical and I'll start next Wednesday (they're on vacation until then anyway).

I won't have to live on water and ramen next year after all!!!

Okay, so things are looking better on the job front! I went over to Zanesville last Wednesday to fill out a bunch of paperwork for a temp agency down there. I haven't heard anything more from them yet, but now I have an even better prospect!

There was an ad in the paper all last week for a company in town who is looking for a college student to work during the summer in their office. So I e-mailed my resume and took a copy over that day. When I got there I talked to their front desk and said that I was there in response to that ad and would like to fill out an application. However, the receptionist said they weren't taking applications, but she would take my resume. I was a bit confused, but figured I had done all I could do. So, flash forward to Friday when the HR lady in charge of that ad and everything called me up and said they are "interested" in me!! I missed her call, so I'll be calling her back bright and early Monday morning to set up an interview!

I'm really hoping I get everything with Boltaron, the one in town, settled before the temp agency calls me. I would much rather drive five minutes to get to work than driving down to Zanesville everyday (about 40-50 minutes). Just as long as one of them hires me!

In other news, I was putting some of my CDs onto my itunes player today and realized that 1) I had forgotten about some of these songs that I really love and 2) that some of these CDs make me feel really old. Some of my favorite CDs are close to or over ten years old now! Not to mention my first two CDs that I ever owned (Alan Jackson's first two) are from 89 and 91! Then you have my Shania Twain CD, which I got on CD a few years ago (I had it years before, but on casette tape ). That was back in like 4th grade! I remember driving up to Ohio from Texas for Christmas the year that she first started getting popular, 95-ish?, and going to some steakhouse for dinner and hearing one of her songs playing in the restaurant. Random memory, I know.

Anyway, long post and I guess you can tell how bored I've been here at home. Hopefully that will be changing next week!

Wow, I haven't actually posted anything on here for a long time!

Well, I'm at home in Newcomerstown for the summer and looking for a job.... So far, all I've heard is that everyone would gladly accept my application, but they're really not hiring right now. I've heard that response several times. However, I got a call for an interview today...from a scam company. Well, I guess that depends on if you call selling knives in people's homes and having to buy the demonstration kit yourself a scam. I do, so I cancelled the interview.

Ugh, between this and that stupid photo package selling crap from last year I'm getting a bit annoyed. I've applied everywhere, seriously, EVERYWHERE! I applied to some resort in Alaska, a summer camp in Maine, another camp in Wyoming, Disney World, and McDonald's and haven't heard a thing until that knife selling gig.

It's depressing because I really want to go to Spain with the marching band next year, but with that costing $1450 now and me not having any money (except the $20 some dollars in my bank account), my dad still not finding a job, and the government screwing up his unemployment checks (he hasn't gotten one for two weeks now), it's not looking good.

Whatever, I'll just keep looking I guess, there isn't anything else to do. Just felt like ranting a bit.

Okay, so yesterday was quite possibly the most interesting game I've ever marched in. The morning started off with rain. It was bad enough that Dr. Bates told us we wouldn't march halftime. It was kind of sad for us marching band methods people, but it made sense. So, I came back to the apartment, ate lunch, and got dressed. As I start to walk out the door to go to my car, I checked the window in the hallway to see how bad it was raining.... it wasn't raining anymore....it was SNOWING! It was one of those "You have to be kidding," moments.

We all gathered at Presser before we left for the stadium and couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous this all was. We went outside, lined up, and just walked over to the stadium. Of course we were walking into the wind and the snow was pelting us in the face the whole way over. At least we had people singing Christmas songs up ahead to keep us laughing. We got over to the stadium and ran over for pregame. At least two people slipped when they were prancing out, no one could see the yard lines, and I definitely could not feel my fingers. We marched and then the seniors ran out to meet our parents. We ran back, did the rest of pregame, and ran inside the concession area for warmth. I stayed there for a while, but I wanted to go outside and watch the craziness of the game. So, I put on my dry gloves and went up to the stands. We took a senior picture and then got ready for halftime. We went outside and stood in a concert arc to just play our show. It was bad enough just getting out there to do that, so I'm pretty glad we didn't actually march. Anyway, after that we were allowed to leave. So, I ran to the warmth of my parents' car and drove back to Presser to turn in my uniform.

Even though it was a miserable, freezing, wet game, it was kind of fun...or funny...either way. Plus, it will be a great teacher story one day. I can tell my students when they're complaining about it being a rainy game or a cold game that "I had to march five miles in snow once in college, so you can deal with this!" I know, it wasn't five miles, but exaggeration is a wonderful teaching technique.

So, yesterday may or may not have been my last day of marching band....I haven't really decided if I'm doing it next year or not. It all depends on how crazy my schedule is going to be. I would really like to make it an even decade of marching band (we started marching band in 8th grade at my school), but we'll see.

Anyway, that's all folks!
